EMEA Policy Communications Manager, AI & Innovation
We have an opening on the Meta EMEA Policy Comms team for someone to lead our corporate and policy communications work around Meta’s leadership in AI and other cutting edge technologies. The successful candidate will coordinate closely with a range of internal stakeholders to build and execute a communications campaign that can scale across countries, aligned to global priorities and local business needs, focused on agenda setting editorial coverage and creative owned content. They will develop thought leadership to position Meta at the forefront of the AI era, and create compelling stories which (i) demonstrate the socio-economic value enabled by Meta’s open-source AI models and (ii) build trust in Meta and our innovations. They will also be responsible for managing reactive issues that may affect our reputation, working closely with country Comms teams to respond to high profile media inbounds, and will support local leadership with strategic communications. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a similar role in corporate or policy communications, have a good understanding of the EMEA media landscape, and extensive experience in media relations. They will have a natural campaign mindset with experience delivering long-term proactive communication campaigns across countries that cut through and deliver measurable results via tactics that stretch beyond earned media. They should have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a good balance of strategic thinking and tactical execution, and the ability to juggle multiple simultaneous projects and ruthlessly priorities
EMEA Policy Communications Manager, AI & Innovation Responsibilities
  • Communications strategy, planning and execution - working with our global and in-country comms teams, public affairs, policy programmes, and marketing to develop, coordinate and deliver execution of the Global AI corporate/policy communications strategy in EMEA
  • Create relevant, newsworthy stories/content for owned and earned channels that demonstrate Meta’s leadership in the AI era, demonstrate the socio-economic value enabled by Meta’s AI and metaverse technologies, and build trust in Meta and our innovations. Work with country Comms teams to execute and land those.
  • Agency coordination and management
  • Crisis and issues management - working with local country teams to manage and respond to inbound press enquiries across the region
  • Build a deep understanding of Meta’s AI and Metaverse products, policies and approach, and distill this work into plain language for media, policymakers, and the general public through a wide range of written material like blog posts, Q&As, briefing materials and talking points.
  • Serve as a corporate spokesperson, as needed
  • ensure we have a strong bench of relevant and trained spokespeople for media interviews and public speaking engagements.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Extensive experience (~10 years) in corporate/policy communications for consumer facing brands, or in relevant Government communications departments.
  • Campaign mindset with a proven track record delivering proactive communications strategies/campaigns that cut through and deliver measurable results.
  • Experience in issues management and explaining complex topics across a wide range of audiences.
  • Proven experience that stretches beyond media relations to reach audiences directly via social/owned content.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making ability in complex and dynamic scenarios. Ability to stay calm under pressure.
  • A well-organised team player with a proven ability to build relationships cross-functionally across different time zones, and to successfully engage and influence senior stakeholders to shape outcomes for the highest impact
  • Proven experience preparing and staffing spokespeople for high-profile media experiences.
  • Thrives in a fast changing environment and can adapt plans accordingly
  • Proven organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and emotional intelligence to work well with all levels of the business.
  • Experience managing a budget
Preferred Qualifications
  • Growth mindset with a proven track record for new, innovative approaches and smart risk taking.
  • An understanding of “Brussels” and its political and media environment is an advantage. An understanding of or curiosity around the political and media environment in countries across Europe and the Middle East (UK, FR, DE, IT, ES, UAE) would also be helpful.
