We are looking for a Production Design lead to join the Messenger Design System team. Why should you join? You're passionate about design systems and innovating in this space You'll be building a world-class design system for a product with 800 million users You'll be work at the cutting edge of product, enabling the design of many new emergent technologies such as Meta’s industry-leading AI You’ll work with industry-leading colleagues across design and engineering The opportunity to influence user experience at scale across many teams You sweat the details and love keeping up to date with advancements in Figma and design systems You will primarily work alongside product designers, content designers, and engineers to ensure that design system components are high quality, consistent, cohesive and available to both designers and engineers building the Messenger product. You will ensure MDS components meet the quality standards and needs across our ecosystem from spec to implementation.
Production Designer - Messenger Design System Responsibilities
  • Ownership of Messenger Design System design library
  • Ownership of component distribution processes and tools used to create and deliver assets.
  • Work with production designers to ensure components are available across platforms: iOS, Android, and web. Designing/building components and templates, expanding states, variations, etc..
  • Troubleshoot issues with design files (layer structure/organization/naming conventions), components and tools.
  • Create, revise, and maintain design files including resource libraries that are easy to navigate and well-annotated for usage.
  • Conduct regular UX QA to identify gaps between spec & production
  • work with eng & PD to rationalize discrepancies as needed.
  • Deliver high quality assets for internal & external communication needs that accurately represent the product and present it in a positive light.
  • Write and update clear documentation on design system component usage
  • Act as a liaison between product design and engineering – supporting parity between design and code sides of the design system
Minimum Qualifications
  • Prior industry experience in production design
  • High proficiency in Figma and other prototyping tools
  • Familiar with iOS, Android and WWW design standards
  • Extremely detail-oriented and organized
  • Experience working with design system creation/maintenance
  • Experience of working within established product/department guidelines and maintaining/developing workflows
  • Experience collaborating directly with product designers and software engineers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Well-versed in accessibility best practices
  • Comfortable delivering high quality editorial assets for internal and external communication needs
  • Experience with Origami Studio, Protopie or any other prototyping tools
  • Experience delivering a high volume of assets for software products at scale

$147,000/year to $205,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
