Tech Art Generalist

Beat Games is an integral part of Reality Labs at Meta, and their smash hit game, Beat Saber, is a top performer on the Quest Platform. Beat Games is located in Prague, Czech Republic, and they are the award-winning game studio that created the original Beat Saber, which has sold over 4 million copies to date and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music including Queen, The Rolling Stones, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, BTS and The Weeknd. In this role, you'll be responsible for making sure the game looks the best it can while running smooth. Your ability to creatively combine technical and artistic skills will directly contribute to the top tier visuals of Beat Saber.
Tech Art Generalist Responsibilities
  • Come up with creative solutions to deliver polished VR visuals with strong emphasis on performance
  • Identify and use wide range of Unity and standalone tools that best fit each task
  • Contribute to our hand-written HLSL über-shaders, ensuring they remain clean, optimized, and efficient
  • Create clean and effective visual effects and help teammates do the same
  • Help establish and maintain Beat Saber's distinct VFX visual style
  • Troubleshoot technical, visual and performance issues
Minimum Qualifications
  • 3+ years in a Tech Art role
  • 5+ years of experience with Unity tools - Animations, Timelines, Particle Systems, Prefabs, Renderers, Material Property Blocks, etc
  • 3+ years of experience using shaders (preferably hand-written) to create unique visuals
  • Deep knowledge of Unity systems, Forward & Built-in rendering pipelines and mobile/VR optimizations
  • A keen artistic sense, enabling you to create polished visuals with low performance fingerprint
Preferred Qualifications
  • Strong 2D and 3D skills to create wide range of visual effects (mesh/shader/texture/flipbook based)
  • Proven ability to work and innovate within established art style
  • Experience developing for virtual reality
  • Proficiency in C# programming
