Associate General Counsel, Privacy
You will be crucial to the company’s efforts to comply with new and evolving privacy obligations across the globe. You will drive development and execution of scalable solutions through the Regulatory Readiness process, one of our top company priorities. You will enable legal counsel across the company to provide durable and consistent advice on contested privacy issues.
Associate General Counsel, Privacy Responsibilities
  • Drive the development and execution of the company’s strategies to address new and evolving global privacy requirements
  • Lead Meta’s strategic response to access & portability rights obligations, including new laws, and regulatory inquiries and litigation
  • Oversee our access & portability rights program, including tooling updates, process improvements, and ad-hoc risk assessments
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in new and evolving areas of global privacy law and regulatory pressures
  • Develop resources and tools that enable counsel across the company to provide durable and consistent advice on contested privacy issues.
  • Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving privacy analysis with cross-functional stakeholders across Meta’s business, policy, legal, communications, security, and other departments
Minimum Qualifications
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one US state bar
  • 8 + years of experience at a law firm, government, or in-house as a practicing attorney
  • Experience with global privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, especially including those relevant for social media, internet and technology companies
  • Experience advising on privacy legal risks and mitigations
  • Experience working on multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven business judgment and client counseling experience
  • Proven problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience making decisions in the face of ambiguity and evolving priorities
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working cross-functionally to advance projects in a multi-stakeholder environment
  • Experience demonstrating business judgment and practical counseling skills In-house experience with applicable product counseling, compliance, litigation, or regulatory teams
  • Experience prioritizing work and providing advice under deadlines
  • Experience advising on global access & portability rights
  • Experience prioritizing work and providing advice under deadlines Experience with understanding innovative technology

$198,000/year to $266,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
