Meta seeks a highly-motivated and experienced attorney to serve as Lead Counsel in the eDiscovery & Information Governance Team within Meta’s Legal Department. The position adds to an already strong team and reports to the Associate General Counsel of eDiscovery & Information Governance. This position will play a key role in developing best practices and providing legal guidance to Meta’s global litigation, regulatory, investigation, and product teams.
Lead Counsel, eDiscovery & Information Governance Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain subject matter expertise in U.S. and global legal and regulatory obligations relating to litigation, discovery, and information governance
  • Apply legal, eDiscovery, and information governance knowledge, principles, practices, and experience when partnering with in-house and outside counsel on active litigation, regulatory, and investigation matters
  • Meaningfully contribute to the design, implementation, and execution of eDiscovery and information governance templates, policies, strategies, and workflows
  • Rapidly identify, analyze, and address complicated issues, and distill that complexity into simple and concise communication in cross-functional settings
  • Work collaboratively with the eDiscovery and Information Governance team, as well as case and policy teams, business partners, outside counsel, and vendors
Minimum Qualifications
  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent)
  • Active membership in at least one US state bar and eligibility to obtain registered in-house counsel status (if required by the State Bar in the assigned work location)
  • 5+ years of legal experience as a practicing attorney, including at a law firm and/or in-house or government experience
  • Demonstrate business judgment and client counseling skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience building partnerships and coordinating with a variety of audiences, including legal, technical, and policy teams
  • Experience learning and understanding complex technology and data related concepts, effectively discuss those concepts with technically skilled individuals, and apply that knowledge and understanding to discovery and legal strategies
  • Experience with eDiscovery and information governance technology and tools
  • Experience applying analytical and problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and legal knowledge to address complex issues and develop practical solutions
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house technology company experience
  • Experience in developing and validating technology assisted review programs
  • Experience with presentation, organizational, and project management skills
  • Experience managing a fast-paced workload while maintaining priorities and anticipating issues
  • Enthusiasm and motivation to learn and understand complex, cutting edge technology and data related concepts, effectively discuss those concepts with technically skilled individuals, and apply that knowledge and understanding to discovery and legal strategies

$167,000/year to $233,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
