Meta is seeking Research Managers to join its Fundamental AI Research (FAIR) organization, focused on making significant advances in machine intelligence. Our current focus includes multimodal understanding and generation, factuality and social and behavioral reasoning. In particular, we aim to develop data efficient and inclusive AI systems. We publish groundbreaking papers and release frameworks/libraries that are widely used in the open-source community, fostering the advancement of AI. We seek Research Managers with relevant expertise to join our research team to foster cutting-edge research in AI.
Research Manager - FAIR Responsibilities
  • Support and grow/build a team of AI experts.
  • Develop research vision, long-term strategy and set direction for the team and the organization.
  • Present the team's work and plans in cross-company executive forums and academic conferences.
  • Communicate, collaborate, and build relationships with peer teams to accelerate research across projects.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience supporting and leading teams of researchers and engineers.
  • Experience and track of record in delivering large research initiatives, following a long-term research agenda.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in research in multimodal modeling, deep learning and related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, leading technical organizations, including performance management.
  • Evidence of research background with publications in top conferences/journals in the related fields.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD in mathematics, physics, statistics, computer science, cognitive or language science with a background in both theoretical and empirical approaches.
  • Experience in developing massive multilingual NLP or speech systems.
  • Interest in cross-disciplinary research in topics relevant to developmental AI.

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
