Meta is seeking a product-focused strategic thinker to join its Product Policy & Strategy team as a Product Policy Manager. In this role, you will work closely with product and engineering teams to provide policy counsel and to design product policies to help build new products and systems with safety, integrity, privacy, transparency and expression in mind, while understanding core business priorities. You’ll accomplish this goal by working with a range of cross-functional stakeholders, such as other policy, product, legal, communication, design, and marketing teams. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in emerging technologies and policy work, with a deep understanding of AI policy, safety, and responsibility issues, including recent scholarship and relevant industry trends. They will also thrive in a fast-paced environment and share our vision of giving people the power to build community and bring the world closer together.
Product Policy Manager, GenAI Responsibilities
Provide policy guidance that anticipates and minimizes safety and business risks arising from new GenAI products and features, informed by an understanding of the evolving regulatory, policy environment and academic research
Build scalable frameworks to operationalize a consistent set of safety mitigations across a broad range of products
Partner with teams to maintain and further develop products to mitigate abuse, and design policies to keep users and the platform safe
Work with software engineers, designers, lawyers, product managers, and others to help product teams address policy, legal, engineering, user interface, business, and marketing requirements
Providing policy guidance to internal and external stakeholders on issues ranging from safety to fairness to human rights in the context of GenAI products
Represent the company externally, including at industry consortia and policy-making forums
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in political science, policy, law, marketing, communication, computer science or related field
5+ years of experience working in policy, policy enforcement, law, law enforcement, product design, product marketing, product management or related field
Experience working independently and cross-functionally to develop policies and apply analytical thinking to solving ambiguous, complex problems
Experience with consensus building in a highly matrixed environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing global trust and safety policies for AI-powered image, audio, and video products
Experience writing formal policy documentation for wide-ranging audiences
Experience advising on AI technologies and other online products and platforms in a product policy role
Experience dealing with escalations and/or time-sensitive issues
Experience articulating policies and their reasoning to various audiences effectively
Deep understanding of AI policy, safety, and responsibility issues, including key stakeholders, research initiatives, and relevant industry trends
Experience in adversarial simulation and red-teaming methodologies
