We’re looking for Instagram’s Data Science lead for the Sharing Experiences Organization, one of the three product groups for the company. This product group is responsible for the product development across core user experiences on Instagram. This includes the production and engagement experiences across Instagram’s experiences including Stories, Reels, Feed, and Private Sharing. The mission of this team is to bring you closer to the people you love. The Director of Data Science is directly responsible for managing the data science team to ensure proper goaling, experimentation, and forecasting and to develop insights that identify the biggest opportunities for the Instagram community and drive overall product strategy. Additionally, this leader is responsible for leadership development with Instagram Sharing Experiences Analytics to ensure the org has capacity to further scale. This leader will serve on Instagram’s core analytics leadership circle to help improve cross-Instagram Analytics team process such as recruiting, training, and performance management. You will enjoy working with one of the richest data sets in the world, cutting edge technology, and the ability to see your insights turned into real products on a regular basis. The perfect candidate will have strong product intuition, experience building and managing analytics teams, will have worked with large data stores, and experience building software. You are scrappy, focused on results, a self-starter, and have demonstrated success in using analytics to drive the understanding, progression, and user engagement of a product.
Data Science Director, Instagram Sharing Responsibilities
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, and cross-functional teams to inform, influence, support, and execute product strategy and investment decisions.
  • Inspire, lead and grow a team of data scientists.
  • Apply your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data in developing data-informed strategies for growing and improving our product offerings.
  • Partner with, and influence through data, other teams across the Facebook Family of Apps (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger).
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of work experience managing analytics teams, working collaboratively with Product, Engineering and cross-functional partners, and guiding data-influenced product planning, prioritization and strategy development.
  • Demonstrated experience in hiring, retaining and scaling diverse, geographically dispersed, high-performing teams.
  • Proven experience influencing product strategy and drive change across org boundaries through clear and compelling communication of data-driven insights and analyses.
  • Intellectual curiosity and drive experience, decisiveness, ambiguity and complexity, bias towards action.

$314,000/year to $361,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
