The Wearables Language AI organization is seeking an engineering manager to support the Wearables Voice AI team. This team shipped the AI Assistant on Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses last year, and is working on building core technologies that will make the interactions with the Assistant much more smooth and ubiquitous, available in more languages, and ship it on all upcoming Wearable Meta devices, including on-device deployment.
Engineering Manager, Wearables Language AI Responsibilities
  • Grow a team of speech domain experts within the Wearables Voice AI team
  • Develop technical vision, long-term strategy and set direction for the team and the organization
  • Drive execution of developing models and systems that are crucial to the end user experience
  • Communicate, collaborate and build relationships with product and peer teams to facilitate cross-functional projects
  • Remain up-to-date on ongoing software development activities in the team, help work through technical challenges and be involved in design decisions
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience and track record of landing large product impact in fast-paced environment
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in large language model, NLP, and or speech processing areas, in both research and engineering settings
  • 5+ years of experience recruiting, building, structuring, and leading technical organizations, including performance management
  • 2+ years of experience in building decent sized organization and supporting managers
  • Demonstrable technical vision in SOTA speech and/ or dialog processing
  • Experience in developing large-scale AI systems
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration with product and platform teams, as well as non-engineering functions
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD in deep learning, artificial intelligence, speech processing and/ or a related technical field
  • Experience and knowledge of ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc
  • Experience and knowledge of working with LLM frameworks, especially LLaMa and LLaVA
  • Experience and knowledge of working with speech dialog/ conversational AI systems, sentiment analysis, multi-lingual or contextualized speech processing, user evaluation

$213,000/year to $293,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
