We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineering Manager to lead our team of hardware systems engineers in the development of innovative mixed reality devices. As a technical leader, you will be responsible for driving the development of complex hardware systems, ensuring that they meet the required specifications and are integrated effectively into the overall product from concept to mass production.
In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, product management, and operations, to ensure that hardware systems meet the required specifications and are integrated effectively into the overall product.
As a technical leader, you will work collaboratively with experts in different fields across electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, display, optics, industrial design to make architectural tradeoffs and drive the development of innovative MR devices. You will also provide technical guidance and mentorship to the hardware systems engineering team, helping to develop their skills and expertise, and implement technical strategies and roadmaps, aligning with the overall goals and objectives of Meta Reality Labs.
You should have a solid background in hardware systems and integration, with a demonstrated ability to drive technical projects forward and ensure their successful delivery. They should be able to hold themselves and others accountable for meeting project goals and timelines, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quickly. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as well as the ability to build consensus across organizations and drive cross-functional leadership.
Systems Engineering Manager Responsibilities
Provide technical leadership and guidance to a team of hardware systems engineers, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to deliver high-quality results.
Develop and implement technical strategies and roadmaps for the team, aligning with the overall goals and objectives of Meta Reality Labs.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including software engineering, product design, and operations, to ensure that hardware systems meet the required specifications and are integrated effectively into the overall product.
Mentor, build, and develop team members, providing guidance on technical issues and helping to build their skills and expertise.
Foster strategic partnerships with cross-functional peers in engineering, research, business, design, and user research to define product requirements and shape the architecture of future MR devices.
Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement and spearhead the development of innovative systems engineering and validation concepts to empower guiding hardware and technology teams through all phases of engineering design, development, and validation,
Provide technical ownership and guidance to make crucial hardware product decisions, enabling the realization of cutting-edge MR devices for Meta's users.
Minimum Qualifications
BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related technical field
10+ years of experience in integrated hardware and software product development, with a focus on hardware systems engineering, architecture, integration, or validation.
Proven track record of technical leadership and management, with experience leading teams of engineers and driving technical projects forward
Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the experience to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, with the experience to identify and resolve complex technical issues
Experience with technical strategy development and roadmap creation, with a focus on innovation and continuous improvement
Demonstrated expertise in the consumer electronics space, with full-life cycle product launches, including sustainment.
Preferred Qualifications
15+ years of direct relevant experience
Strong cross organization & domain leadership skills, with experience leading cross-functional technology teams through personal accountability and influence.
Previous AR/VR or Wearables experience
Previous Display, Optics and SoC experience
