Lead Counsel, Monetization

Meta seeks a highly motivated attorney who is enthusiastic about technology and its potential for positive impact in peoples’ lives to join our product counseling legal team. This role will focus on supporting Meta’s Commerce and New Monetization Experiences products across Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Messenger. The Lead Counsel is dedicated to providing strategic legal advice to internal product, engineering, policy, operations, and business teams, primarily in connection with Meta’s monetization products. The role requires application of complex, evolving legal frameworks to new and innovative products and services. Lead Counsel, Monetization Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze global products, features, platforms and initiatives and provide practical legal risk mitigation strategies for products across multiple jurisdictions
  • Provide product, engineering, and other business teams with legal advice across various subject areas including privacy, consumer protection laws, data protection laws and regulations, and other global legal frameworks
  • Drive high-profile and high-impact projects involving legal analysis and compliance with cross-functional stakeholders across Meta’s business, policy, legal, communications, engineering, product marketing, trust and safety, security, and other cross-functional teams
  • Collaborate with attorneys from other legal teams such as privacy, regulatory, commercial, and litigation
Minimum Qualifications
  • J.D. Degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 5+ years of experience at a law firm, government, or in-house as a practicing attorney
  • Experience working independently and cross-functionally
  • Experience prioritizing work and providing legal advice to clients in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience advancing simultaneous projects in a multi-stakeholder environment
Preferred Qualifications
  • In-house legal experience
  • Regulatory or litigation experience
  • Experience advising clients on risk mitigation across technology product platforms, in particular experience with monetization products.
  • Experience with eCommerce, payments, media and advertising laws, regulations and industry guidelines, especially including those relevant for social media and internet companies
  • Experience with global privacy frameworks and regulations

$167,000/year to $233,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
