Meta is seeking a seasoned legal professional with a deep understanding of evolving and increasing regulatory requirements and expectations relating to the provision of digital services within the technology industry. This team member’s primary focus will be providing guidance to Meta’s global governance risk and compliance (GRC) functions that facilitate the identification and mitigation of risks associated with illegal and harmful online activities and the spread of disinformation. This role requires a strategic thinker who can navigate a rapidly evolving and unifying landscape of regulatory standards and expectations, providing insight and leadership to proactively address risk and compliance challenges. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience in the day-to-day operations of both a sophisticated GRC program and a large technology company, with an ability to comfortably pivot as priorities and deliverables shift.
Associate General Counsel - Integrity, Risk, and Compliance Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance on the maturing and operation of Meta’s Compliance Office and Integrity GRC program including governance, risk identification/treatment, and assurance functions
  • Support independent review of Meta’s Compliance Office and Integrity GRC program, including supporting engagements with auditors, regulators, and other third parties
  • Provide guidance on oversight obligations of management bodies and boards overseeing compliance functions
  • Work with cross-functional partners across the organization to identify requirements, obligations and best practices, and translate them into executable technical and operational controls that can be implemented and tested
  • Analyze and advise on global legal requirements and support engagements with regulators and public policy makers on issues of online safety and disinformation
Minimum Qualifications
  • Solicitor or barrister (qualified to practice law in at least one European jurisdiction).
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience, including at a law firm and/or in-house experience
  • In-depth knowledge of legal issues in the area of risk and compliance in one or more highly regulated industries
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years experience supporting risk and compliance programs programs
  • Experience with global laws, regulations, and industry guidelines, related to online safety, disinformation, and/or data protection
  • Experience advising corporate oversight bodies
  • Experience working with regulators and responding to regulatory inquiries
  • Experience working cross-functionally in complex multi-stakeholder environments
