We are looking for a skilled and motivated Research Designer to join our team, whose mission is to solve interaction in XR. We are specifically looking for a candidate with experience in designing compelling interactions and experiences for XR and synthesizing broad or solving ambiguous business requirements and accomplishing them through design or envisioning future emerging technologies. And who can work with a team of researchers who create the technology that makes AR and AI pervasive and universal. Your work will be used in user research studies, technology demos, and proof of concept prototypes. More broadly, the chosen candidate will work with a diverse and highly interdisciplinary team of researchers and engineers and will have access to cutting edge technology, resources, and testing facilities. At Reality Labs Research, our goal is to explore, innovate and design novel interfaces and hardware subsystems for the next generation of virtual, augmented, and mixed reality experiences
RL-R Research Designer Responsibilities
  • Design compelling interactions and experiences for AR/VR driven by user scenarios and use cases
  • Collaborate with research scientists to understand and incorporate AI into designs concepts
  • Synthesize broad and ambiguous business requirements and accomplish them through design
  • Contribute to strategic decisions, working with the Design, Research Science, and Executive teams
  • Design end-to-end flows and visuals, and individually contribute to the product and feature set
  • Clearly articulate design decisions to a vast set of internal stakeholders
Minimum Qualifications
  • 6+ years of interaction design experience in designing high quality user interfaces
  • A portfolio featuring examples of interaction, motion, visual, and prototyping work
  • Communication and presentation experience
  • Experience designing and leading in cross-functional environments
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with Unity or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Experience defining product strategy and vision
  • Experience prototyping emerging technologies with physical computing, haptics, wearables, or machine learning techniques, AI
  • Strong communication and personal management skills

$165,000/year to $231,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
