Communication Foundation Media organization with Meta provides core Audio, Video, Networking technologies powering both Calling and Messaging use cases for 3B+ users across the Family of Apps, GenAI and Reality Lab products. This team powers camera and audio capture, rendering and fun effects (such as background blur, filters, AR effects) across the family of apps with Millions in daily active users. Our goal is to build and bring an industry leading Media capture/processing/rendering system across our Family of Apps across multiple surfaces (Reels, Stories, Calling etc).
Software Engineering Manager, Media (Video/Audio) Responsibilities
  • Manage Video and Audio software engineers and help them develop their careers, assigning them to projects tailored to their skill levels, long-term skill development, personalities, and work styles
  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with cross-functional hardware and software engineering teams. Champion engineering and operational excellence, establishing metrics and process for regular assessment and improvement
  • Set clear expectations and create a positive work environment based on accountability, in collaboration with the engineering and management teams
  • Work closely with dedicated recruiting staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees
  • Drive 0 to 1 initiatives such as integration with GenAI
  • Lead a strong team of engineers to build/evolve next generation Camera & Audio Capture/Media Rendering stack
  • As a platform team, establish strong collaboration across teams in Meta
Minimum Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience managing and recruiting technical teams, including performance management
  • 8+ years experience in software development
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2+ years of experience developing, coaching, and managing engineers
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in Media domain (Camera, Audio, Video)
  • Experience in digital signal processing is a plus
  • Knowledge in audio/video capture or render algorithms for consumer devices
  • Experience supporting platform teams and strong at technical execution & collaboration

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
