Meta Reality Labs Research is looking for scientists and researchers with an interest in sensing algorithm and hardware developments for machine learning, computer vision, new sensing and computing architectures, and optical imaging and sensing. The goal of this role is to develop research methods to solve advanced computer vision problems, such as depth perception, scene understanding, and inverse rendering, using new imaging modalities such as polarization imaging. The ideal candidates will have a comprehensive understanding of computational imaging, computer vision, and machine learning algorithms. Our internships are twelve (12) to sixteen (16), or twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year.
Research Scientist Intern - Computer Vision for Sensors and Systems (PhD) Responsibilities
  • Research, design and prototype new imaging and sensing systems
  • Develop and implement computer vision and machine learning algorithms using new sensing modalities
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers from a variety of technical backgrounds through all stages of imaging system development
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a PhD in the fields of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
  • Strong understanding and hands-on experience with computational imaging, computer vision, and machine learning including but not limited to: super-resolution, depth estimation, inverse rendering, 3D reconstruction, SLAM, and neural rendering.
  • 2+ years of experience programming and image analysis/processing in Python/C++
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with the full machine vision pipeline from cameras to high-level algorithms
  • Experience with polarization imaging using polarization-sensitive cameras
  • Familiarity with Mueller and Jones Calculus for analysis of polarized light
  • Familiarity with computation photography, computer graphics, and optical image processing
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, or fellowships, as well as first-authored publications in major conferences and journals such as CVPR, ECCV, ICCV, ICLR, NeurIPS, SIGGRAPH, Optica, and SPIE

$7,800/month to $11,293/month + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
