The Horizon Team at Meta is building a social User Generated Content (UGC) platform where the world’s creators will be able to create their place, and enable their communities to connect, engage and play in all kinds of ways. We are driven to create a safe and compelling metaverse for never-ending exploration and games, and our journey’s just beginning. OURO Interactive is Oculus Studios’ newest 1st Party game studio, and Meta’s first in-house game studio dedicated exclusively to creating lighthouse games for Horizon Worlds. As a Senior Gameplay Engineer for OURO Interactive, you’ll be at the forefront of shipping VR-best experiences for the ever-expanding Horizon metaverse.
Senior Gameplay Engineer - Ouro Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Horizon Platform and Creation Teams in developing new features and APIs for the Horizon platform to unlock Ouro’s next game.
  • Build end-to-end backend and gameplay features for Ouro’s next game.
  • Build custom solutions that align with the Metaverse (e.g. Avatars, Common Identity, Integrity) that are delivered to consumers by launching games that use those features.
  • Work as a full-stack developer and gain familiarity in multiple coding languages as needed: e.g. TypeScript, C#, C++, Hack, React.
  • Be or become familiar with multiple game engines: i.e. Unity, Unreal, proprietary engine, etc.
  • Be or become familiar with multiple 3rd Party Game technologies (i.e. AWS GameLift, Unity Vivox).
  • Gain familiarity of alternate hosting environments (i.e. cloud/corporate/lab) and help determine where and how they should be used.
  • Support other Oculus game studios during break/fix scenarios and be part of the escalation path.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in developing backend services for games and/or enterprise (large scale distributed environments).
  • Experience in learning new approaches, coding languages, and Meta specific solutions.
  • Experienced with C/C++/C#.
  • Experienced with game development and/or enterprise scale infrastructure.
  • Experienced with TypeScript.
  • Experienced collaborating with team members across multiple disciplines to bring products to life.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Shipped AAA Game(s) or Large enterprise solution(s).
  • Experience working in major game engines (i.e. Unreal, Unity, Godot).
  • Experience as a Full-Stack developer in a large scale distributed environment.
  • Experience building supportable solutions that include proactive alerting, monitoring, and product metrics.
  • Experience with major cloud providers (AWS, Azure, etc.).
  • Experience working with distributed computing platforms.
  • Participation in/winning game jams.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Engineering.

$177,000/year to $251,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
