Software Engineer (Systems) Responsibilities
  • Research, design, develop, build and test operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software for large distributed components that run applications.
  • Build new features and improve existing products.
  • Work on problems of large scope and scale.
  • Design, develop, and implement architecture and infrastructure that align with the company's strategic goals and customer needs to ensure the ease of overall user experience.
  • Scaling application infrastructure for billions of users using various cloud infrastructure tools.
  • Improve the overall security of infrastructure systems and mobile applications, as well as the performance and user-experience of applications and platforms, through the review of user feedback and server maintenance requests.
  • Lead and participate in the entire software development lifecycle, including requirement analysis, design, coding, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, designers, and other engineers, to define and achieve project objectives on various user platforms like Android, iOS or similar.
  • Mentor junior software engineers, providing guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development.
  • Push code, drive the development of the systems behind our products, create web applications that reach billions of people, build high volume servers, and be a part of a team to connect people around the globe.
  • Develop a strong understanding of relevant product areas, codebase, and/or systems.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in data analysis, programming and software engineering.
  • Design algorithms and data paths to maintain the security of user data.
  • Produce high quality code with good test coverage, using modern abstractions and frameworks.
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure that all software solutions adhere to industry best practices and company standards.
  • Receive general instructions on routine work and detailed instructions on new projects or assignments, work independently, use available resources to get unblocked, and complete tasks on-schedule by exercising strong judgment and problem solving skills.
  • Master internal development standards from developing to releasing code in order to take on tasks and projects with increasing levels of complexity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring that our software products are reliable and performant.
  • Actively seek and give feedback in alignment with company Performance Philosophy.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, and apply this knowledge to drive innovation within the company.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a Master’s degree (or foreign degree equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Software, Computer Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field and 48 months of experience in the job offered or in a related occupation. Requires 48 months of experience involving the following:
  • 1. Proficiency in one of the following industry standard languages: C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or JavaScript
  • 2. Python, PHP, or Haskell
  • 3. Database design and management, including SQL and NoSQL databases
  • 4. Cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform or similar
  • 5. Data path modeling, authoring algorithms and user data security maintenance
  • 6. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)
  • 7. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to lead development projects and work collaboratively in a team environment
  • 8. Building large-scale infrastructure applications
  • 9. Design scalable distributed systems with established partition tolerance, consistency, and availability guarantees
  • 10. Linux, UNIX, or other *nix-like OS as evidenced by file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting
  • 11. Core web technologies: HTML, CSS, or JavaScript
  • 12. Build highly-scalable performant solutions
  • 13. Distributed systems including sharding, consistency, and availability
  • 14. Algorithms
  • 15. Data processing, programming languages, databases, networking, operating systems, computer graphics, or human-computer interaction
  • 16. Mentor and guide junior engineers to help them develop their skills and grow in their careers
  • 17. Excellent problem-solving abilities and analytical skills.

$180,583/year to $200,200/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
