We bring in hardware engineers and scientists to Building 8, who apply groundbreaking DARPA-style development at the intersection of product and ambitious science. We hire 3D artists and designers to conceptualize, build, and implement intuitive environments for game-changing virtual reality. What attracted you to Facebook?
What attracted me most to Facebook was the potential to make a real impact. Facebook is a growing company with apps and services (Instagram, Oculus, WhatsApp) that touch billions of people daily. For me, I saw the opportunity to participate in Facebook's global transformation and growth. I could see how my body of work in recruiting would directly impact this transformation. Our teams hire amazing talent who can do the important work of bringing the world closer together.
What keeps you here?
Now that I’m here at Facebook, I see how much impact we are making from the ground floor and we're growing quickly. With our mission at our core, we rally behind a common goal. We move fast and align to propel the vision set forth by our inspiring leaders like Mark and Sheryl. Our teams are results oriented and mindful of how we achieve those results. While we have our own pipeline and regional goals to focus on, we meet regularly as a function to troubleshoot and help each other accomplish global feats.
Community is important to me. I find time to connect with many internal groups at Facebook such as the Parents@, Latin@, Running@ and Swimming@ communities. I can be my authentic self, and I'm grateful to be at a company that supports me professionally and personally.

What's the culture like at Facebook?
When I think of Facebook’s culture I immediately think about the incredible people I get to work with every day. As a recruiter, you’re front and center of helping to build Facebook’s teams; we have the potential to impact the world in a way that doesn’t really exist at other companies. Everyone at Facebook helps build our unique culture. We have a poster internally that says “Nothing at Facebook is somebody else’s problem.” I love this poster, it reminds us that we’re all accountable and responsible for our culture – this is a pretty special place.
How many Facebook offices have you worked at?
3! I started my Facebook journey in our Dublin office (my hometown) where I was lucky enough to see the office grow from 50 people to over 1,500. When the opportunity came to help build Facebook’s mobile efforts, I jumped at the chance to be part of the mobile recruiting team. I helped open our first engineering office in London and build our mobile team there. It was an amazing opportunity to partner closely with engineering leadership and create a meaningful engineering hub. Fast forward 2.5 years, I’m now in Facebook’s New York office working with a new set of engineering partners and a team that I love.
The reason I’m still here after 6 years... it's honestly the people I get to spend my day with — from our engineers to my team to everyone that I am lucky enough to learn from every day. There’s a certain magic that happens when you bring the best people in the world together and ask them to focus on the same mission.
