Meta is seeking an experienced, highly motivated lawyer to join the Telco Partnerships legal team as Lead Counsel to draft and negotiate a variety of commercial transactions, including distribution agreements, technology license agreements, terms of service and other policies, and product partnerships. You will need to provide creative and practical guidance to clients on potential legal and business strategies to help foster a thriving ecosystem of partners and commercial deployments. Additionally, you are comfortable with and responsive to rapid development and changes in direction as well as working with products and in practice areas without much precedent. This role requires the ability to work collaboratively across a global Legal department while driving decision-making in a constantly evolving legal environment. We are looking for an all-around athlete and team player - someone with excellent communication skills, sound judgment, technical acumen, and strategic thinking, along with the ability to work independently and cross-functionally. This is a full-time position.
Lead Counsel, Telco Partnerships Responsibilities
  • Contract drafting, negotiation and advisory responsibilities for Meta's partnerships, business development, growth, engineering and product, and marketing teams
  • Provide strategic business and legal advice to develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to our relationships with key partners
  • Collaborate with privacy counsel, regulatory counsel, compliance counsel, product counsel, and other groups to ensure that partnerships and business models are appropriately established and advised
  • Influence and build relationships with leadership, product teams, and peers across Meta
  • Commercial transactions support for other departments as required
  • Address and resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships
Minimum Qualifications
  • Qualified solicitor in the UK.
  • Minimum of 6 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE) legal experience, including in-house and/or law firm experience
  • 5+ years of commercial transactions experience, including experience with Internet business and legal issues
  • Communication, interpersonal and stakeholder management skills, and works well with cross-functional teams
  • Experience with complex technology transactions with mobile operators and OEMs and/or social networking platforms
  • Experience negotiating major strategic transactions
  • Experience managing numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure
  • Experience of consistently driving projects forward and finding opportunities to increase impact
  • Flexible and willing to work extended hours when necessary to complete projects in a timely fashion
  • Open to travel as and when required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with emerging technologies and devices
  • In-house experience with technology company(ies)
  • A commitment to professionalism and collegiality
  • Privacy and data protection experience (e.g. GDPR)
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively with a diverse range of colleagues and partners, to drive impact
