As an Optical Additive Manufacturing Technology (OAMT) Application Engineer at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in bringing cutting-edge Augmented Reality (AR) technology to our customers. You will design and develop innovative optical components for next-generation consumer AR hardware using our groundbreaking optical additive manufacturing technology. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to explore and refine major elements of our AR products through hands-on, iterative prototyping. Additionally, you will create component designs and printing strategies that meet product requirements. Ensuring the optimal functioning of our optical additive manufacturing platform, including installation, upgrades, maintenance, diagnostic and troubleshooting, and optimization of machine performance, will also be part of your responsibilities. We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual with a strong mechanical background and excellent prototyping skills. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in mechanical engineering, expertise in 3D CAD design and prototyping, experience in designing and manufacturing consumer technology products, and a creative and innovative approach to problem-solving.
OAMT Application Engineer Responsibilities
  • Design optical components for 3D printing on the VisionEngine printing platform
  • Define print strategies including Printing molds, Print recipes and Post processing in order to meet product requirements
  • Conduct DOEs to optimise the design and printing process
  • Review product design and product requirements with XFNs at the eyepiece level
  • Secure the functioning of the VisionEngine printing platform in our workshop
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS or higher in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2+ years of experience in the mechanical engineering of consumer electronics
  • 2+ years of experience in 3D modeling in Fusion, Solidworks, ProE or NX
  • Demonstrated experience in mechanical fundamentals
  • Manufacturing experience with 3D printing
  • Experience managing vendors remotely and in-person
  • Experience building part and assembly prototypes in the shop
  • Experience designing mechanisms
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiar with product development process of optical components. Experienced with 3D printing equipments and process. Knowledge of optical metrology.

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
