The Reality labs (RL) team is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love the most. We are a team of experts developing and shipping products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content. Our Mixed Reality Hardware team has the responsibility of taking breakthrough concepts and delivering them to market at scale. We are currently seeking a Hardware TPM who has experience in quickly prototyping new technologies and integrating them into shipping products. This person should have a passion for working across technical disciplines to develop compelling products and platforms that involve developing new technologies and solving complex problems. This position requires someone who has the ability to work collaboratively with non-technical and technical partners, to manage system maturation, requirements, and respective risks, and who is focused on execution: communicating progress clearly and effectively and proactively identifying and addressing roadblocks. The right candidate will possess demonstrated experience in technical program management, will have demonstrated experience leading large projects across multiple hardware teams, as well as working with our contract manufacturer for prototyping and concept engineering needs.
Technical Program Manager, Hardware Prototyping Responsibilities
  • Work on generating a prototyping roadmap and working with the cross functional partners in developing the requirements, specifications of prototypes
  • Ownership of system level components: manage the internal design review process and release to vendors, review design changes with cross functional teams, manage vendors and materials, and drive overall schedule for on-time delivery to final assembly and delivery
  • Planning and execution of product prototype builds, including materials planning, factory readiness, and validations
  • Establish daily build schedule and distribution plan for identified builds to support overall project plan for in-region and local builds
  • Partner closely with cross-functional teams to understand key design and data requiring validation to accurately integrate engineering validation needs
  • Provide clear executive level communication on project progress internally and be the single point of contact to external design / manufacturing partners to ensure holistic success of project objectives
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience working across technical disciplines to develop compelling products and platforms that involve developing new technologies and solving complex problems.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science (or equivalent)
  • 5+ years experience working as a technology development program manager for consumer electronics
  • Experience in ODM/JDM/CM vendor engagement models
  • Knowledge with phase-gate approach to technology development projects
  • Experience with mechanical system development, design for manufacturing, tooling, validation and characterization processes
  • Communication, planning skills, and attention-to-detail
  • Experience operating autonomously across multiple teams and projects
  • Experience in developing new technologies and integrating advanced systems in consumer electronics

$134,000/year to $196,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
