At Meta Reality Labs (RL) , we’re developing the future of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) and looking for a world-class Program Manager to join the Display Team. You’ll be a critical member of the Display team, identifying long term trends, driving the design process, removing barriers to enable your team’s success, communicating progress to all stakeholders and ensuring the big picture stays in focus while delving into the details on specific technical issues. Ideal team members are adaptable and resilient, eager to tackle unfamiliar situations with curiosity and tenacity, while able to inspire and influence team members at different levels of experience. Display TPMs must excel in many areas including communication, organization, strategic planning and technical understanding which will lead to providing customers with the best user-experience in the industry for AR/VR products.
Technical Program Manager, Optical Module Hardware Display & Optics Responsibilities
  • Lead product & process development activities to specify, design, build & test advanced optical components and module assemblies for AR/VR displays.
  • Collaborate with and lead cross functional teams in the pursuit of shipping a 0-1 product: requirements definition, identifying and managing key constraints, and mapping development plans against program risks with strategies to enable success.
  • Manage projects with suppliers and partners, from creating statements of work to driving final deliverables in collaboration with Ops, Business Development, Legal, and Procurement.
  • Evaluate suppliers’ capabilities to meet product requirements, partner with the ops team to establish a robust and scalable supply chain strategy.
  • Operate at different levels of abstraction, from high-level strategic planning (system architecture, technology selection, organizational structure, commercial partnerships) to tactical project management (prioritization, schedule creation, milestone definition and execution, and deliverables management).
  • Breakdown the complexity of deeply technical programs to enable a clear understanding of scope and deliverables to a wider audience of team members and support functions.
  • Proactively identify technical, legal, procedural, logistical, and communication issues and drive creative solutions to address them and manage risk.
  • Identify resources needed and work closely with team leaders to maintain full visibility of the project schedule and potential roadblocks.
  • Act as the main channel of communication for key formal discussions and decisions that involve technical team leader, support functions (Legal, Business Development, and Procurement) external partners, and other members of the organization.
  • Expect to travel domestically and internationally, 4-6 times a year.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in optics, electrical engineering, materials science or a similar field.
  • 5+ years as a technical program manager (or related role).
  • 4+ years of experience manufacturing rigid and flexible circuit assemblies in high-volume manufacturing
  • Knowledge of PCBA manufacturing processes & techniques
  • High level familiarity with typical processes and timelines for schematic design, board layout, DFM/DFX and ok2fab of new assemblies, as well as their electrical validation.
  • Familiarity with SMT processes.
  • Experience with program management tools - phase gate product development lifecycle, building, coordinating, and maintaining schedules across multiple teams, and managing shared resources to lead successful technology development programs.
  • Experience delivering complex technology programs and/or products from inception to delivery.
  • Experience in establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and with partners in different time zones.
  • Experience leading and partnering with vendors and contract manufacturers.
  • Experience with new product introduction (NPI) and technology transfer best practice and tools.
  • Proven communicator, experience with synthesizing information into the most salient points to move a team / initiative forward.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Augmented Reality products and technologies.
  • Experience with SiP (System in Package) design and manufacturing.
  • Experience building schedule for PCB/FPC/RFPC.
  • Experience leading engineering team on electrical boards or driver boards validations and debugging.
  • Experience in optical components and sensors, displays, imaging systems, LEDs, lasers.
  • Experience with HW & SW integration, familiarity with calibration and CV algorithms.
  • Experience operating in medical devices or other highly regulated industries.
  • Advanced manufacturing experience in semiconductor processing, fine pitch interconnect, advanced optical coatings, thin film lamination, lens manufacturing, back end packaging.

$102,000/year to $157,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
