Our team is seeking a Product Design Engineer Intern, who can design, prototype, analyze, and help us launch a new and exciting consumer product for Meta. As a Product Design Engineering Intern, you will work on designing and prototyping innovative closure mechanisms for wrist wearables, assessing these concepts for industrial design, user experience, comfort, and reliability. You will generate 3D Design concepts using NX and also interact with vendors to produce prototypes and other product components. This role offers hands-on experience in user-centered design, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and the chance to impact the future of wearable tech. Our internships are Twelve (12) to Sixteen (16) weeks long.
Product Design Engineering Intern (BS/Masters) Responsibilities
  • Brainstorm and design innovative concepts for wrist wearable closure mechanisms
  • Create 3D CAD models and prototypes using NX and other tools
  • Interact with vendors to produce prototypes and other product components.
  • Assess those concepts for industrial design, user experience, comfort, and reliability
  • Conduct user testing and gather feedback to inform design decisions
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and manufacturability
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a Bachelors or Masters in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 3D CAD and design skills (preferred experience with NX)
  • Experience with prototyping equipment/techniques (3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, etc.)
  • Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment
Preferred Qualifications
  • Product design engineering experience - consumer electronics design ideal
  • Knowledge of plastic and metal part design (CNC, Lathe, injection molding, etc.)
  • Knowledge of material sciences and mechanics
  • Strong communication and cross functional skills
  • Experience in FEA, DFM, DFA, FA, DOE creation, and/or GD&T
  • Intent to return to degree-program after the completion of the internship/co-op
