Meta seeks a highly motivated, well-organized, team player to join our Privacy policy team in the APAC region. The position will lead the Privacy Policy team work on strategic engagement and outreach with privacy, AI and data protection policy stakeholders in APAC. The ideal candidate has a strong background in privacy and data protection, with a strong grasp on the privacy and AI developments in the key countries in the region. The candidate should also have deep knowledge of and relationships with regulators, key advocacy groups, policymakers, academics, and researchers in the region. The candidate should have excellent analytical skills and be a strong writer, with experience in developing materials for internal audiences as well as privacy regulators, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders. The candidate should also have a proven record of managing high-perfoming teams and interacting with senior management of a large organization. Finally, the candidate should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, cross-functional work environment and presenting to internal and external audiences. This is a great opportunity to work on novel privacy policy issues in an exciting environment.
Privacy and Data Policy Director Responsibilities
  • Managing a team of privacy policy experts in the region.
  • Lead engagement activities in the APAC region, working closely with the APAC policy teams, and presenting on behalf of Meta regarding privacy and AI issues, including in external meetings and conferences.
  • Assess policy impact of legislative and regulatory proposals concerning privacy, Ai, data protection, data security and other related technology issues.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to develop and articulate the company's positions on key privacy and data protection issues in the form of internal briefing documents , position papers, and related documents.
  • Lead the design and execution of high impact privacy policy and AI strategies and programmatic initiatives in the region.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 12+ years experience working on data protection and privacy legal and policy issues in a privacy regulator, law firm, company, non-profit or similar organization Bachelor's degree.
  • Knowledge of regional privacy policy and legislative frameworks (including AI).
  • Experience managing complex cross-functional projects and prioritizing multiple simultaneous projects.
  • 5+ years Experience managing a team.
  • Proven track record in engaging with privacy experts from civil society, academia, and government.
  • Experience working directly with senior business executives and/or high-ranking government officials.
  • Effective communication skills and collaborative work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
  • JD or Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant subject.
  • Experience advising on or building consumer technology products and services
  • Fluent in key regional languages.
