Performance and Capacity Engineer Responsibilities
  • Work with cross-functional teams to find the optimal way to scale the infrastructure, help build one of the largest Internet services and scale the largest web capacity in the world.
  • Contribute to overall Meta capacity planning work for all different products/services and recommend DC expansion plan, define network requirements.
  • Tackle state-of-the-art hardware performance issues.
  • Analyze and debug difficult server performance issues, identify bottlenecks and optimize product/service for efficiency.
  • Work with software developers closely to improve code base performance, reduce resource consumption, and shorten request latency.
  • Develop tools to monitor billions of user requests.
  • Write monitoring and reporting tools to do performance and capacity-related tests and analysis.
  • Run capacity and performance experiments to determine scaling and utilization for various service tiers.
  • Own company server budget and track it.
  • Present monthly performance and capacity roadmap for critical project and cost analyses in presentation and written form to executive teams.
  • Identify capacity-related issues proactively and work with systems, network, application operations and engineering teams to discover resolutions.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Requires a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Sciences, Mathematics, Physics or related field and 24 months of work experience in the job offered or in a computer-related occupation.
  • Experience must include 6 months of experience in the following:
  • 1. C, C++, C #, or Java
  • 2. Linux or Unix as evidenced by file manipulation, advanced commands, and shell scripting
  • 3. Software development tools: Code editors (VIM or Emacs), and revision control systems (Subversion, GIT, or Perforce)
  • 4. Technical presentation skills
  • 5. Computer architecture and microarchitecture
  • 6. Performance analysis, tuning and optimization.

$297,409/year to $339,130/year + bonus + equity + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
