As a Hardware System Process Specialist at Meta’s Reality Labs, you will lead development of the systems engineering process for our upcoming VR products, help drive the overall process and roadmap, integrate with the PDP, and be a part of the teams designing, building, and validating products for future consumer VR experiences. The Reality Labs Hardware System Process Specialist will lead the system process definition for design convergence of complex and novel sub-systems through final testing and validation for our end users, enabling delivery state-of-the-art consumer MR systems. This spans all aspects of the technology from sensing systems, display/optics systems, input devices, PCBs, and mechanical systems, to deliver full MR headsets. The role requires expert technical communication with cross-functional teams across industrial design, hardware engineering, supply chain and core technology groups. This role requires excellent understanding of systems integration, verification and validation, and system engineering processes. We’re looking for a systems process specialist who will build and manage the system process implementation. The ideal candidate would have strong systems skills, demonstrated ability to lead by influence, strong attention to details driving implementation on complex systems.
Systems Engineering Process Specialist Responsibilities
  • Develop processes to enable rapid and high quality product development: requirements flow from top level goals to detailed specifications, verification and validation, ensuring clear and searchable documentation
  • Engage with technology project leads, and various component SMEs in creating the overall system requirements process, as well as pilot programs for product execution
  • Communicate systems process strategy effectively to both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure the hardware system metrics, KPIs, standards and tools are addressed appropriately and implemented correctly
  • Drive development of system requirements to create new mixed and virtual reality experiences, and help advance technology and research roadmap
  • Build improvements and develop flexible processes to ensure teams have the tools they need to navigate complex technology and product trade-offs during development
  • Own requirements and system architectures documentation encompassing compute, displays/optics, EE, sensors, calibration, and firmware from initial conception through prototyping, product development, and production ramp
  • Implement the System Engineering V&V and gated processes into Meta’s PDP
Minimum Qualifications
  • Communication experience working with Product Development engineers, Product Managers and other hardware/software cross-functional teams
  • Experience with system process implementation and complex system validation
  • Experience in rapid prototyping and creating proof of concepts to share and prove out ideas
  • Experience managing documentation for integrating and delivering one or more of these technologies: displays, optics, silicon, sensors, thermal system
  • Experience with phase gate approach to product development
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams and managing by influence
  • Experience identifying and creating best practices and strategizing playbooks. Systematic approach to problem-solving and a focus on driving continuous improvement in large organizations
  • 3+ years of product experience in electrical, mechanical or optical engineering fields as either an engineer, Product Manager, or Technical Program Manager
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in managing and documentation of firmware development, mechanical systems, electrical systems, and complex sensing systems
  • Experience in regulated industries such as aerospace, defense, automotive or medical
  • Experience with products that include sensors (IMU, lidar, and cameras), high bandwidth data streams, onboard compute, and ML/AI
  • Experience on projects that include complex systems interfaces and interactions across a wide range of environments (external conditions, large user population, or both).

$111,000/year to $164,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
