Meta Reality Labs is seeking an intern with expertise in sensor fusion, tracking, and machine learning to enhance interactions with augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) devices. The ideal candidate will have experience in articulated object tracking and pose regression, as well as a strong background in machine learning. As an intern at Meta Reality Labs, you will have the opportunity to explore and implement cutting-edge algorithms that utilize sensor streams to track the states of users and/or devices. You will work closely with world-leading collaborators and mentors in the AR/VR and HCI fields, gaining valuable insights and expertise in this rapidly evolving field. Work with researchers to help enable their work across the following research disciplines: - Tracking & Sensor Fusion - Glove Sensing & Tracking Our internships are twelve (12) to twenty-four (24) weeks long and we have various start dates throughout the year. Some projects may require a minimum of 16 consecutive weeks.
Research Scientist Intern, Tracking & Sensor Fusion (PhD) Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute cutting-edge research to advance AR/VR interaction technologies in the areas of sensor fusion, calibration, and tracking.
  • Collaborate with other researchers, engineers, and user experience researchers to prototype hardware and software solutions, and run experiments to advance the project.
  • Work with leading academic researchers in the field. The work should result in publishable research that appears in top-tier journals or at leading international conferences.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining, a PhD degree in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, or relevant technical field.
  • Excellent research skills involving defining problems, exploring solutions, and analyzing and presenting results.
  • Proficiency in C++, Matlab, or Python.
  • Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with sensor fusion (e.g. IMUs, depth sensor, CV) and its real-time applications.
  • Experience with hand tracking or human body tracking.
  • Experience working and communicating cross functionally in a team environment.
  • Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as NeurIPS, AAAI, CVPR, ICCV, IROS, ICRA, UIST, CHI, or similar.
  • Intent to return to degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op.
  • Availability for minimum 16 consecutive week internship.

$7,800/month to $11,293/month + benefits

Individual compensation is determined by skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Compensation details listed in this posting reflect the base hourly rate, monthly rate, or annual salary only, and do not include bonus, equity or sales incentives, if applicable.
